UN-ESCWA (The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia), in partnership with the Arab Science and Technology Foundation (ASTF), holds an expert group meeting on “Harnessing Technology for Enhanced Small and Medium-sized Enterprises Productivity and Competitiveness” on 3 and 4 November 2007 at the JW Marriott Hotel in Mirage City in Cairo, Egypt. The expert group meeting will be held concurrently and complementarily with the ASTF “Made in the Arab World” Competition finals, scheduled to open at 9:00 AM on Saturday 3 November. |

The purpose of this ninth issue of the Bulletin on Population and Vital Statistics in the ESCWA region is to present available statistics for ESCWA member countries on registered vital events, including births, deaths, marriages and divorces, with special emphasis on demographic determinants and population changes; present the main indicators for each of these events; compare them with the estimates prepared by the United Nations Population Division; and facilitate comparison across countries and years. |

Expert Group Meeting on Evaluation of Population Census Data in the Arab Countries |
The expert group meeting aims to discuss the quality of census data through the introduction and discussion of several studies and papers on the assessment and evaluation of census data in Arab countries, specifically the age-sex data, within the framework of the 2020 census round or the end of the 2010 round of censuses that include comparisons between more than one census in the same country. |

Executive Committee, Seventh Meeting |
The Executive Committee was established pursuant to ESCWA resolution 320 (XXVIII), which amended the terms of reference of the Technical Committee, redesignating it and increasing its executive role within ESCWA. The Executive Committee plays an important role in steering and coordinating the Commission’s activities, tracking the implementation of recommendations and following up on important regional and global issues. It held its sixth meeting in Marrakech, Morocco, on 15 and 16 June 2019. |
