22 February 2018	Women from the Arab region call for change through ‘Lazem in 2018’ campaign	The UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the American University of Beirut (AUB) have partnered to produce a campaign called “Lazem” using hashtags لازم في 2018# (“we must in 2018”) and #IWD2018—the official hashtag of International Women’s Day marked annually on 8 March.

11 December 2014	National Conference on Social Policy in Egypt Kicks off	The National Conference on Integrated Social Policy in Egypt opened today at the Pyramisa Hotel in Cairo under the auspices of the Egyptian First Lady, Ms. Suzan Mubarak. Speaking at the opening session were Mr. James Rawley, UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt and Resident Representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ms. Mervat Tallawy, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) and Mr. Ali Al-Meselhi, Egyptian Minister of Social Solidarity.
11 December 2014	Economic Trends in the ESCWA Region 2011- 2012	During a press briefing to highlight the main findings of the “Survey of Economic and Social Development in the ESCWA Region 2011-2012,” held this morning at the U.N. House in Beirut, Mr. Abdullah Al-Dardari, Director of Economic Development and Globalization Division (EDGD) said that all-time high oil revenue amidst the Arab Spring resulted in growth polarization between major oil exporters and the rest of the ESCWA region.

1 April 2015	Amman Hosts 11th Session of ESCWA Statistical Committee	The Jordanian capital, Amman, hosts the 11th Session of the Statistical Committee of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) on 4 and 5 February 2015 at the Kempinski Hotel. The Session is entitled “The Data Revolution for Support and Monitoring of the Post-2015 Development Agenda”.
22 April 2016	In the Run towards the 3rd Arab Forum on Sustainable Development and the 2nd UN Environment Assembly	Development is a human right that everyone should benefit from, especially the most marginalized and vulnerable groups in the Arab region. This includes people living under occupation and conflict, refugees, internally displaced people, and residents of rural and poor areas. Such were the recommendations of the “Preparatory Meeting for the 3rd Arab Forum on Sustainable Development (AFSD-3) and the 2nd United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-2),” hosted by the United Nations House in Beirut on 14 April 2016.
