11 December 2014	First Meeting of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group of the Arab Internet Governance Forum El Sherbiny: Such Forums Confirm the Need for Dialogue	Under the umbrella of ESCWA and the League of Arab States (LAS), the first meeting of the Multistakeholder Advisory Group (MAG) of the Arab Internet Governance Forum (Arab IGF) was held on 18-19 June 2012 in Cairo, Egypt. The meeting was convened by the Arab IGF secretariat, represented by the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) of Egypt, in collaboration with the Arab Administrative Development Organization (ARADO), and was sponsored by the Kuwait Information Technology Society (KITS) and CISCO Systems.

23 August 2017	Consultative Meeting on the Implementation Framework for the Environmental Dimension of the 2030 Agenda in the Arab Region	Cooperation between ESCWA, UN Environment, and the League of Arab States has led to the development of a draft “Implementation Framework for the Environmental Dimension of the 2030 Agenda”. The draft framework proposes means of integrating the environmental dimensions of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development into national development plans and policies in the Arab region.
11 December 2014	Lebanese Prime Minister, Deputy UN Secretary-General Open Regional Coordination Mechanism Meeting	Beirut, 11 November 2010 (UN Information Service) — Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Deputy Secretary-general of the United Nations Asha-Rose Migiro and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf today opened at the UN House in Beirut the 14th Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) meeting for UN agencies operating in Arab countries.
15 August 2018	Member States establish Arab Centre for Climate Change Policies at ESCWA 30th Ministerial Session	At the 30^th Ministerial Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) held from 25 to 28 June, member States of the Arab region welcomed the establishment of an Arab Centre for Climate Change Policies.

11 December 2014	Amman Hosts Prominent Regional Event on Sustainable Development	His Royal Highness Prince Al Hassan Bin Talal will deliver a keynote speech on Wednesday 2 April 2014 before a crowd of officials from the government, the United Nations and its specialized agencies, the League of Arab States, financing institutions, and the civil society, at the opening of the “Arab High Level Forum on Sustainable Development” held in Hotel Kempinski, Amman, until Friday 4 April 2014.
26 February 2015	Annual Meeting of the Arab Internet Governance Forum Opens	UN Undersecretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf today said that good internet governance, as good governance in general, was an important tool to achieve sustainable development goals in all of its aspects. Utilized wisely, information and communication technologies could contribute in the fight against poverty, unemployment and social exclusion. They could also create decent job opportunities for youth, women and marginalized groups in any community. The optimal use of technology should be ensured for this end and to spread knowledge and benefits.
2 September 2020	Distillation and valorization of materials extracted from medicinal and aromatic plants	Within the framework of the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND)” project, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the General Commission for Regional Development (CGDR) and the National Agency for Energy Conservation (ANME) in Tunisia, is organizing a capacity-building workshop on “Distillation and valorization of materials extracted from medicinal and aromatic plants”. This workshop aims to build the knowledge, scientific and technical capacities of rural women in the region of Chorbane, (Governorate of Mahdia) Republic of Tunisia – in particular, those belonging to "Al-Amal" Agricultural Development Group for Rural Women – on the valorization of aromatic and medicinal plants in the region and their exploitation within income-generating activities’ context through the extraction of essential oils and manufacture of cosmetics, as well as providing them with the necessary practical skills, encouraging them to invest and develop entrepreneurship, motivate them to organize within base-structures under the social and solidarity economy’ framework, and also to build their capacities on manufacturing and packaging the various products extracted from aromatic and medicinal plants to better promote them within the region, regionally and nationally, through a simplified scientific and distinctive approach integrating lectures, exercises, and practical training.
11 December 2014	Senior Officials Segment of ESCWA’S 27th Session Kicks Off	The Senior Official Segment of ESCWA’s 27th Ministerial Session opened on 7 May at the U.N. House in Beirut. Speakers at the opening were the Deputy Executive Secretary of ESCWA, Mr. Nadim Khoury, the Director of International Cooperation in the Jordanian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, Ms. Zeina Touqan, representing the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which chaired the 26th Session, and the Executive Director of the Economic Policy Affairs in the Emirati Ministry of Economy, Mr. Mohamad Saleh Shalwah.
