The Secretariat issues three types of solicitation document to fulfil a procurement requirement. While each of the documents referred to below contains the information necessary to submit a suitable offer, they vary in accordance with the nature of the requirement and the estimated monetary value. All solicitation documents normally provide for generic specifications.

Beirut, 26 Oct 2011 (UN Information Service) — “Under an Olive Tree in Palestine” is the slogan of a poster launched today by ESCWA as part of its efforts to raise awareness about the socio-economic repercussions of Israeli occupation in Palestine, including settlements and the policies of blockades and closures. The poster was distributed to UN headquarters in New York, Geneva, Vienna and to many UN agencies in Lebanon. ESCWA also provided the Palestinian Authority and some non-governmental organizations with copies for use and circulation.

ESCWA has since 2011 been coordinating with ESCAP and the other UN-Regional Commissions in the implementation of an ESCAP lead project on “Enhancing energy security and improving access to energy services through development of public-private renewable energy partnerships”. Within this project’s context, a national team was established in Jordan, and was charged with collecting data on and identifying Renewable Energy (RE) PPPs case studies in poor and/or rural areas of Jordan.

Beirut, 9 September 2011 (UN Information Services) — Main challenges to developing high-performing and sustainable social security systems in most member countries of ESCWA include the lack of data on social protection, political will and good governance, a meeting of the 14-member UN regional commission concluded today.
