This paper proposes an Equality-Justice-Inclusion Nexus Approach to mainstream the SDGs in national strategies, policies and programmes of Arab countries.

Beirut, 16 November (UN Information Service) — ESCWA Technology Centre (ETC) today opened a workshop on “Intellectual Property (IP) and Technology Transfer for Universities and Research Institutions” in El Hassan Science City, Amman, Jordan. The workshop is organized in cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) office in Jordan.

Good governance remains a critical ingredient for socio-economic development as well as for peacebuilding. In light of the development challenges facing Western Asia, in conflict affected countries in particular, the consecration of good governance practices is all the more pressing but continues to face a wide range of obstacles. The most serious challenges within the public sector remain the depletion of human resources and physical infrastructure as well as the desperate need to upgrade and develop outdated administrative practices.

– In collaboration with the UN Statistics Department, (UNSD), UN-ESCWA (Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia) is organizing a workshop on “Data Compilation and Application of Methodological Concepts”, at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Amman, Jordan between 28 October and 2 November 2007. The workshop, which will open on Sunday 28 October at 09:00 am, is geared towards updating the capabilities of officers in the implementation of the concepts and definitions in collecting, processing and disseminating international merchandize trade statistics.
