ESCWA is an important regional actor in the field of economic and social development. To amplify the impact of its normative and operational work, the organization enters into different types of partnerships and collaborative ventures with a host of global, regional, national and local partners. They include member countries, development agencies, intergovernmental organizations and agencies within and outside the United Nations system, civil society organizations and the private sector.

Arab Ministers will discuss ways of facing youth unemployment in Western Asia in a roundtable to be held during the UNESCWA 24th Ministerial Session from 10 to 11 May 2006 at the UN House, Beirut, under the patronage of Lebanese House Speaker Nabih Berri.

The pro-democratic uprisings sweeping the region dominated the agenda of the 15th Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) Meeting, which was held 1 June at the UN House in Beirut and brought together regional directors and officials from 22 UN agencies and other international and regional organizations as well as partners in the Arab region. The role of the RCM is to facilitate policy coherence in economic and social development in the region among UN actors and with key regional stakeholders.

Beirut, 11 November 2010 (UN Information Service) — Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, Deputy Secretary-general of the United Nations Asha-Rose Migiro and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf today opened at the UN House in Beirut the 14th Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) meeting for UN agencies operating in Arab countries.
