Applying Unified Classification for Economic Activities in Arab Countries |
The Economic Statistics section at ESCWA organized a regional workshop on implementation of the international standard industrial classification for all economic activities (ISIC rev.4) for Arab countries, together with the Arab Institute for Training and Statistical Research (AITRS), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD), in Amman, Jordan, from 28 September to 1 October 2014. |

In order to help member States to formulate sustainable energy policies and strategies, and upon a recommendation by the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Committee on Energy (CoE) at its 11th session (14-16 May 2017, Cairo) addressed to ESCWA Secretariat, to form an Expert Group on Fossil Fuels (GEFF), as a sub-committee of the CoE, working in accordance with the ESCWA rules and United Nations regulations in that regard. |

The Sultanate of Oman today provided UN-ESCWA with financial support of USD 50,000 to fund development projects and technical cooperation and support activities for member countries. The Sultanate is considered one of the most prominent supporters of UN-ESCWA in recent years since it has already provided funds that amounted to USD 300,000. |
