Annual Review of Developments in Globalization and Regional Integration in the Arab Countries, 2008 |
The performance of Arab countries in 2007 was uneven. Some sectors increased their share in the world economy while others saw their share decline. This issue of the Annual Review assesses, through an analysis of economic indicators, the performance of the Arab economies in achieving regional integration and integration into the world economy, with an emphasis on foreign direct investment. The Annual Review also discusses labour migration as one of the regional integration indicators. |

EGM on "Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage in ESCWA Member States: Enhancing the Sustainability of the Energy System in a Carbon Constrained Development Context" |
ESCWA organized in collaboration with Masdar Institute of Science and Technology an expert group meeting (EGM) on “Carbon Capture, Utilization and Storage (CCUS) in ESCWA Member States: Enhancing the Sustainability of the Energy System in a Carbon Constrained Development Context” on 6-7 November 2013 in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The meeting addressed the CCUS technology development in the region, CCUS in relation to enhanced oil recovery (EOR), and highlighted the issues and challenges facing an inceptive CCUS industry.

Developing the Gender Mainstreaming in Public Institutions Project |
During the ESCWA 29th Session hosted by Qatar on 13-15 December 2016, ESCWA Centre for Women (ECW) delivered a presentation on the Gender Mainstreaming in Public Institutions project which aims to design the first unified Arab framework to measure progress towards achieving gender equality and women empowerment in public institutions, based on the success of ESCWA in implementing the United Nations System-wide Action Plan on Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-SWAP). |
