The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) will be implementing the first regional training of trainers for the project “Statistical Literacy and Capacity Building for Monitoring the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) at the Country Level” at the Radisson-SAS Hotel, Amman, Jordan, from 27 November to 3 December.

The national seminar will focus on the methodologies for developing, applying and evaluating Energy Efficiency policies in the building sector in Tunisia.  It is an activity scheduled in the framework of the UN Development Account (UNDA) project on “Up–scaling Energy Efficiency in the residential and services sectors in the Arab Region”.
 
This seminar will provide technical assistance to relevant national institutions and national experts in Tunisia for the development of short, medium- and long-term strategies and appropriate energy efficiency policies for the existing buildings in the residential and services sector

The Social Development Division (SDD) of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) organized the expert group meeting “Towards Equity in Urban Social Policies: Social Guide for Urban Observatories” under the programme of work of the Social Policy in the City Team. The main purpose of this meeting was to review the proposed framework for the Social Guide for Urban Observatories, with the following goals: (a) To explore expert opinion on the framework of indicators proposed in the Guide, their various components and ways of improving them.
