During last Friday visit paid by ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim to the Lebanese Minister of State for Women's Affairs Jean Ogassapian, the two sides discussed the possibility of setting a framework aimed to increase the technical cooperation provided by ESCWA. The two sides also agreed on launching a first model of a national strategy against Gender Based Violence (GBV) that ESCWA will implement in partnership with the ministry and in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Lebanon.

The 3rd session of the Committee on Technology for Development will be held online over two days, on 15 and 16 February 2021.

Ministers and high-level officials representing the member countries of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) will gather on 13-15 December 2016 at the Sheraton Grand Hotel in Doha, Qatar, to participate in the ESCWA 29th Ministerial Session.

"Under an Olive Tree in Palestine" is the slogan of a poster launched today by ESCWA as part of its efforts to raise awareness about the socio-economic repercussions of Israeli occupation in Palestine, including settlements and the policies of blockades and closures. The poster was distributed to UN headquarters in New York, Geneva, Vienna and to many UN agencies in Lebanon. ESCWA also provided the Palestinian Authority and some non-governmental organizations with copies for use and circulation.
