4 December 2019	Tracking SDG 7: Energy Progress Report Arab Region	Progress in sustainable energy lies at the heart of socioeconomic growth and sustainable development across the Arab region. Ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all (Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7)) is a key condition for reducing inequalities, poverty eradication, advances in health and education, sustainable economic growth, and the principle of “leaving no one behind”, in addition to climate action. Mainstreaming sustainable energy also presents significant opportunities for achieving a greater gender balance in the Arab region, including through improved energy access for women, access to medical services and education, and job opportunities.
11 December 2014	ESCWA Visiting Experts Discuss Women, Peace and Security	ESCWA organizes an expert group meeting tomorrow Wednesday 25 June 2014, on the issue of Women, Peace and Security. Participants will review the findings of the regional study entitled “Identification of legislative gaps for the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1325 (SCR 1325) in the Arab Region” at the UN-House, Riad Solh Avenue, Beirut. The meeting concludes on 26 June 2014.
1 September 2016	Beirut Call for Action On Women, Peace and Security	ESCWA and the Institute for Women’s Studies in the Arab World (IWSAW) at LAU in partnership with the Danish Centre for Research on Women and Gender (KVINFO) held the international conference on “Prioritizing Women, Peace and Security on the Arab Agenda” from 8 to 10 August in Beirut.

He relentlessly defended the rights of the vulnerable and the oppressed, and tirelessly struggled for long-overdue justice for Palestine.
14 March 2019	Focus Group Meeting on the Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in rural areas of the Arab Region in Lebanon	WIthin the framework of the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small – Scale Renewable Energy Applications in rural areas of the Arab region (REGEND)” an assessment of the situation of the rural areas in Lebanon necessitates a focus group meeting. 19 December 2016	Task Force on Population and Housing Census for Arab Countries in 2020 Census Round, 2nd Meeting	The UN-ESCWA Statistical Committee at its eleventh session, Amman, 4-5 February 2015 asked ESCWA to and its member countries to revive the Task Force on Population and Housing in the Arab countries. The Committee asked ESCWA to coordinate the Task Force activities in cooperation with international and regional related organizations to assist the Arab countries to implement their population census during the period 2015-2024.
5 December 2014	Regional Commissions' Training of Trainers on Violence Against Women	Background The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA) is implementing a project on "Enhancing Capacities to Eradicate Violence Against Women Through Networking of Local Knowledge Communities". In implementing this project ESCWA will cooperate with all other United Nations Regional Commissions, the United Nations Statistical Division (UNSD) and the United Nations Division for the Advancement of Women (UNDAW). In commemoration of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence (2016), the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Institute for Women's Studies in the Arab World at the Lebanese American University (LAU), ABAAD Resource Centre for Gender Equality, and UN-Women call on youth in the Arab region to participate in a video competition to raise awareness on violence against women.
