3 February 2016	Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Yemen Visits ESCWA	On the 28th of January 2016, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Yemen Abdul-Malik Al-Mikhlafi visited ESCWA headquarters in Beirut where he met with Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf.
31 May 2021	Training workshop for rural women on "Food Manufacturing, Safety, and the Best Methods of Food Packaging and Preservation"	Within the framework of the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND)” Project, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Municipality of Chaqdouf, is organizing a capacity-building workshop on “Food Manufacturing and Safety, and the Best Methods of Food Packaging and Preservation”. This workshop will build the capacities of the rural women in Chaqdouf in the fields of food manufacturing, personal hygiene, food safety, and best methods of packaging and labeling.

2 April 2021	Capacity-Building Workshop on “The Use of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technologies and Applications for Rural Development in Lebanon”	Within the framework of the “Regional Initiative for Promoting Small-Scale Renewable Energy Applications in Rural Areas of the Arab Region (REGEND)” Project, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Municipality of Akkar Al-Atika, is organizing a capacity-building workshop on “The Use of Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Technologies and Applications for Rural Development in Lebanon”. This workshop will introduce rural women to renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies and applications in rural areas and will raise their awareness on how they can enable and promote sustainable rural development, gender and youth empowerment, and economic benefits through their proper integration with productive activities.
11 December 2014	ESCWA and the International Renewable Energy Conference	Investment in alternative energy offers a range of benefits, not only for energy security or environmental considerations but also for the socio-economic gains they can generate. Renewable energy global demand continues to rise, contributing an estimated 19% of global final energy consumption in 2011. Renewables constituted more than 26% of global generating capacity and contributed an estimated 21.7% of global electricity, while creating an estimated 5.7 million jobs for people working directly or indirectly in the renewable energy sector in 2012.

20 May 2015	ESCWA Water Development Report 4: National Capacities for the Management of Shared Water Resources in ESCWA Member Countries	This report focuses on national and regional capacities for the management of shared water resources in ESCWA member countries. Specific attention is paid to the legal frameworks for shared water resources management and the ways in which legal instruments and agreements can support integrated water resources management in shared river basins and shared aquifers.
11 December 2014	UN-ESCWA Ambassadors Meet Wednesday, Discuss the Commission’s Achievements and Future	In their last meeting during the term of Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy, the ambassadors of UN-ESCWA member countries will meet at 11 am on Wednesday 16 May 2007 at the UN House in Beirut. The meeting comes within the context of the regular Advisory Committee meetings and is the second for this year. Tallawy will open the meeting with a statement addressed to the participants and media representatives.
20 May 2015	Survey of Economic and Social Developments in the ESCWA Region, 2008-2009, Summary	Even before the international financial crisis, the ESCWA region as a whole was not expected to meet the Millennium Development Goals in view of the already inadequate structure of existing policies. On the economic side, industrialization and full-employment policies remained elusive goals. On the social side, there were some remarkable advances in health and education, but the region was still far from realizing its developmental potential.
