11 December 2014	Kuwait Hosts First Annual Arab Internet Governance Forum	Under the joint patronage of the League of Arab States (LAS) and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), the First Annual Arab Internet Governance Forum (IGF) will be hosted by the Kuwait Information Technology Society (KITS) on 9-11 October 2012, at the Regency Kuwait Hotel. The meeting will be held in collaboration with the Arab IGF Secretariat represented by the National Telecommunication Regulatory Authority (NTRA) of Egypt, and is sponsored by a number of institutions, including Zain, Réseaux IP Européens (RIPE), ICANN and APTLD.

22 September 2017	Regional Coordination Mechanism, 23rd Meeting	The 23rd meeting of the Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) held at the UN-House in Beirut on 20-21 November 2017 came two years after the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, at a time when Arab countries were and still are facing complex and pressing challenges making it imperative to accelerate the pace of SDG implementation.

Regional and global experts discussed the findings of the report, prepared jointly by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the Economic Research Forum (ERF).
11 December 2014	Cairo to Host UNESCWA-GTZ Meeting on Regional Water Utilities	Under the auspices of Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Planning Ahmed El Magraby, and in the presence of Mr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, Minister of Water resources and Irrigation, UNESCWA and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) are holding a Consultative Meeting entitled “Proposal for Formation of an Arab Water Utilities Network” from 4 to 6 September 2006 at the Conrad Hotel, Cairo, Egypt.

8 September 2020	Regional Workshop on the Integration of Big Data and Geospatial Information for the Compilation of SDG Indicators in Arab Countries	Geographic location is needed to know where a situation is present or where an event has occurred, and to allow decision makers to respond. The integration of geospatial information with data and statistics for SDGs is also instrumental for the production of a number of indicators and in enabling data interoperability across data ecosystems and linking data sets within and across countries.
2 January 2015	Governing and Advisory Bodies	The ESCWA intergovernmental machinery consists of the Commission as the highest body within the organization and, reporting to it, the subsidiary bodies of the Commission, which are the legislative and consultative committees. Pursuant to resolutions 158 (XIV) of 5 April 1987 and 196 (XVII) of 31 May 1994, the Commission sits once every two years, in even years. Since 2006, sessions have been convened in two segments, a high officials segment and a ministerial segment.
