Technical Committee, 8th meeting |
The secretariat of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing the Eighth meeting of the Technical Committee during the period 10-12 December 2013. The Technical Committee will begin its meeting with an opening session at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, 10 December 2013. The Committee will start its working sessions at 10.15 a.m. with one session in the morning and two sessions in the afternoon. It will resume its work at 10 a.m. |

ESCWA Executive Secretary Badr Omar AlDafa delivered a speech today at the opening of the International Arab Banking Summit –(IABS 2010) entitled “From Crisis to Financial Stability” that opened today in Istanbul , under the auspices of Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The summit is organized by the Union of Arab Banks in cooperation with the Central bank of Turkey, the Turkish Banking Association, the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency and the World Union of Arab Bankers. |

ESCWA hosts the YPP Career Support Programme for the third time |
Beirut, 26 July 2019 (ESCWA)--After its success in hosting the Young Professionals Programme (YPP) Career Support Programme in 2011 and 2012 and following a decision by the Office of Human Resources (OHR) to decentralize it starting 2019, ESCWA once again hosted it from 22 to 26 July. The Programme was organized and delivered in its entirety using only ESCWA internal resources. |

Amman Hosts UN-ESCWA Meeting on International Goods Transport Facilitation |
UN-ESCWA, in cooperation with the Jordanian Ministry of Transport, is holding a national workshop on International Goods Transport Facilitation in Jordan that will take place at the Radisson SAS Hotel, Amman, on 15 November 2006. This meeting is part of the United Nations Development Account project “Capacity-Building through Cooperation in Developing Inter-Regional Land and Land-Cum-Sea Transport Linkages”. The Project is jointly implemented by the five United Nations regional commissions, with UN-ESCWA being the overall coordinator of the project. |

Beirut, 18 March 2020--In addition to the rising death toll and extremely heavy burden on health-care systems, the Arab region is suffering from losses of jobs at an alarming rate due to COVID-19, according to a policy brief issued today by ESCWA featuring the first economic assessment of the cost of the pandemic on the region. |
