5 December 2014	Sub-Regional Workshop on DevInfo ver. 6.0	The Sub-Regional Workshop on DevInfo, to be held in Tripoli, Libya, from 22 to 26 November 2009, is organized by the African Development Bank and the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), and in close collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Libya and hosted by the General Information Authority in Tripoli. The workshop will be inaugurated at 09:00 hours on Sunday, 22 November 2009 in Al-Safwa Hotel – Tripoli/Libya.
5 December 2014	Global Harmonization of Arabic Script Use in Domain Names, 4th Meeting	During the past three decades, ASCII characters were the only allowed characters to be used in the domain names of the Internet. However, the start of the new millennium introduced the concept of Internationalized Domain Names (IDNs) which allowed the use of non-ASCII character sets, including the Arabic script, in domain names.
20 March 2018	ESCWA participates in 2018 World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Forum	Beirut, 19 March 2018 (Communication and Information Unit) – The world’s largest annual gathering of the “Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Development” community is convening this week (19-23 March) at UN Headquarters in Switzerland, with a delegation of ESCWA experts in attendance to highlight links between digital technologies and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Arab region.
26 February 2016	Short Term Statistics in Western Asia	ESCWA organized an Expert Group Meeting on Short Term Statistics from 16 to18 February, 2016 in Amman, Jordan. The meeting was held in the context of the project “Strengthening the Statistical Capacity of ESCWA Member Countries in Producing and Disseminating Short-term Economic Indicators for Sustainable Growth,” in coordination with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD).
29 May 2015	ESCWA Annual Report 2014	As the United Nations enters its seventieth year, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) embarks on its fifth decade of work in the Arab region. Our role at ESCWA, however challenging in these tragic times, is to keep the long-term goals of development, integration and social justice alive and to create a prosperous and just future for all. The region has been shaken to the core. The casualty toll continues to mount and millions have been displaced and exiled.

11 December 2014	Cairo to Host UNESCWA-GTZ Meeting on Regional Water Utilities	Under the auspices of Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Planning Ahmed El Magraby, and in the presence of Mr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, Minister of Water resources and Irrigation, UNESCWA and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) are holding a Consultative Meeting entitled “Proposal for Formation of an Arab Water Utilities Network” from 4 to 6 September 2006 at the Conrad Hotel, Cairo, Egypt.
11 August 2015	ESCWA Launches Study from LAU on Access to Justice for Women and Girls in Arab Region	ESCWA launches on Tuesday 26 May 2015 its flagship study on "Access to Justice for Women and Girls in the Arab Region: From Ratification to Implementation of International Instruments," in a ceremony that begins at 11 AM at the Business Building of the Lebanese American University (LAU), Room 903. The event is held in partnership with the Institute for Women's Studies in the Arab World (IWSAW).
