The purpose of the Working Group on Financing Sustainable Development (WG-FfD) is to act as a regional hub for cooperation and coordination among the United Nations, the League of Arab States and their specialized organizations and agencies as well as relevant international financial institutions in the implementation of their work on financing for development in the Arab region, including undertaking joint initiatives and research on regional financing for development priority areas.
 

ESCWA, as part of its mission to facilitate regional cooperation and integration, has prepared this e-publication to provide up-to-date register of censuses and surveys implemented in all the Arab countries. The e-publication consolidates information and provide an insight on types and periodicity of surveys and censuses conducted in the region.

The catalogue is a compilation of gender statistics related activities and outputs implemented by the Arab countries and the Statistics Division at the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). The catalogue aims to promote good practices in compiling and disseminating gender statistics. It also gives incentives to countries to exert further effort towards improving gender statistics at the national level.

The Social Expenditure Monitor provides a comprehensive monitoring of public social expenditure that could improve the efficiency of allocations and the effectiveness of budgeting. It will enable the rationalization of expenditure components and support the achievement of various objectives, including delivering quality public services, promoting inclusive development and stability, and enhancing economic growth and revenue over time. The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is therefore supporting member States in establishing a social expenditure monitor, viewed as an integrated framework for supporting macro-fiscal policies and the SDGs.
