Arab Internet Governance Forum 2012-2015 |
The Arab IGF is aimed at establishing a mechanism for the implementation of the Arab Regional Roadmap for the Internet Governance, and it provides a platform for dialogue on issues related to the Internet and to the priorities of the Arab region, in accordance with the outcomes of WSIS. It is also aimed at addressing a number of key issues related to Internet governance in the Arab region, including issues related to access, policies, security and privacy, openness and young people. |

This fact sheet addresses the status of the infrastructure of the electricity sector in the Arab region in terms of sources, technologies and the efficiency of transmission and distribution networks. It includes items relevant to the production/importing fossil fuels, transferring to the thermal power plants for electricity generation, hydroelectric generation and renewable energy (RE) technologies (wind farms, solar thermal plants and photovoltaic systems), as well as the status nuclear power projects to produce electricity, which is adopted by a limited number of Arab countries. |

A Survey on Digital Arabic Content: Software, Applications and Needs Assessment |
This survey was conducted within the framework of the ESCWA project on ICT incubators to support the Arab digital content industry. The document included the results of the survey in the main sectors of the Arab content industry, the inclusion of the Arabic language to the other languages on the Internet, the automated systems and software tools available as well as a list of proposed projects for incubators of technological innovation. |

Improved Energy Efficiency and the Uses of Cleaner Fossil Fuels in Selected Sectors in Certain ESCWA Member Countries, Part I: Improved Energy Efficiency in Energy-Intensive Industries |
The industrial sector plays a vital role in the national economies of the ESCWA region and consumes some 25 per cent of total energy. This study is the first volume of a two-part study assessing the role of the industrial sector in the national economies of the region; current energy consumption trends in selected energyintensive industries; and economically feasible options for improving energy efficiency in these industries. The study assesses energy consumption in several sectors, including the cement industry, steel industry, fertilizer manufacturing and glass manufacturing. In order to improve energy efficiency, the industrial sector in the region can benefit from a number of international donor agencies related to upgrading production technologies. |
