Regional Profile of the Information Society in Western Asia, 2009 |
The information society, in which information is processed efficiently, including the production, exchange, adaptation and use of information, is the appropriate environment for achieving sustainable development and enhancing the quality of life for all citizens. However, the move towards the information society constitutes a real challenge to developing countries, particularly in view of the expanding digital divide with developed countries, thus rendering them increasingly vulnerable to reduction in their productive and economic capacities. |

Manual for Monitoring Food Security in the Arab Region |
Within the context of Food Security, ESCWA is implementing a Sida funded project on “Promoting food and water security through cooperation and capacity development in the Arab region” that includes a component on enhancing capacity in the Arab countries to assess the status of food security. In this respect, a Regional Framework on Monitoring Food Security in the Arab Region was developed in consultation and coordination with the Arab Organization for Agriculture Development (AOAD), FAO, national focal points and experts from the region. |

Study on National Accounts in the ESCWA Region: Sources and Methods |
Concerned about the level of implementation of the 1993 System of National Accounts (1993 SNA) in the Western Asia region, and in view of the new challenges represented by the recent adoption of the 2008 System of National Accounts (2008 SNA), ESCWA conducted a survey in 2009 to explore the main obstacles hindering the full implementation by its member countries of the 1993 SNA fifteen years after its adoption. |

Survey of Economic and Social Developments in the Arab Region 2018-2019 |

The first one aims at demonstrating the analytical observation of routinely monitored economic and social variables of the Arab region.
