ESCWA Water Development Report 1: Vulnerability of the Region to Socio-Economic Drought |
Of all natural hazards, drought affects the greatest number of people globally, with devastating impact. The vulnerability of communities to drought is dependent on a host of physical, social, environmental and economic characteristics. In recent years, owing to population growth, soil degradation, increased desertification, and projected climate change scenarios, drought research and planning has become crucial to averting and mitigating drought disasters. |

تستفيد البلدان الأعضاء في الإسكوا من مجموعة متنوعة من مصادر الطاقة المتجدّدة، وهي الطاقة الشمسية وطاقة الرياح وطاقة الكتلة الحيوية. وما زالت مساهمة تلك الموارد في ميزان الطاقة محدودة للغاية. وتستخدم الدراسة البيانات الواردة في الاستبيانات التي ملأتها بلدان أعضاء في الإسكوا لتصف قطاع الطاقة في المنطقة، وهو يضم موارد الطاقة التقليدية والمتجددة في آن واحد. كما تقدّم الدراسة إحاطة عن الوضع الراهن لتكنولوجيات الوقود الأحفوري النظيفة والنقل، وعن وصول الطاقة إلى الأنحاء الريفية والنائية في المنطقة. |
