International migration is a large-scale phenomenon that affects families, economies, service provision and communities, posing both challenges and opportunities for countries in the Arab region  This issue of the Social Development Bulletin examines good practice and the latest developments in the area of migration governance within the Arab region and beyond.

  One of the biggest concerns in the Arab economies today is related to youth employment. This bulletin tackles the dysfunctional relationship between the labor market and the broader social and economic policy system as it explains the labor-education mismatch. These issues could be treated through several training programs and educational reforms.

The sixth issue of the Annual Review analyses the extent to which Arab countries are integrated into the global economy and the degree of economic integration among those countries. It draws particular attention to foreign direct investment, tourism and World Trade Organization negotiations. The publication concludes with a set of recommendations on how issues related to Arab regional integration and globalization can best be tackled.
