This report focuses on the analysis of the most recent socio-economic developments to meet two objectives. The first one aims at demonstrating the analytical observation of routinely monitored economic and social variables of the Arab region. The second area of focus aims at an in-depth analysis on the reforms of the energy subsidy system and its macroeconomic implication, with particularly focus on two countries: Tunisia (oil importer) and Saudi Arabia (oil exporter).

Arab Society: A Compendium of Demographic and Social Statistics, Issue No. 13 provides an overview of demographic and social dynamic across the region.

This compendium of briefs proposes policy options based on major trends, scenarios and interventions to sustainably respond to the Arab region’s food security challenges by highlighting key approaches to sustainable, context-based and climate-smart agricultural production interventions best suited to Arab States, outlining key options for optimizing engagement with world food markets that could be adapted to Arab countries and tackling issues of food loss and waste.

The economic and political uncertainty continues to restrain the region’s prospects for growth, job creation and stability.
