Participants in the UNESCWA seminar on “Population, Housing and Establishment Censuses in the Context of Development" held in Cairo on 30-31 July 2006 under the patronage of Egyptian Prime Minister considered that the implementation of the census is Egypt was an important opportunity to be used in indicating the effects of population issues over development and the future needs in Egypt not only at the national and provincial levels.

House in Beirut under the auspices of Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Miqati. High Level meetings preceding the Session will be held on 7-8 May, 2012. Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy announced that UNESCWA had prepared two concept papers during the war, one on the “Restoration of Environmental Damage Resulting from Military Aggression in Lebanon” and another on “Lebanon’s Rebuilding Momentum”. “These papers”, said Tallawy, “are to be materialized in the very near future into a series of field projects.” She reassured participants of UNESCWA’s intention to support Lebanon in restoring its environment and rehabilitating its economy.
