Beijing Platform for Action: a Regional Review |
On 22 and 23 October 2014 ESCWA Centre for Women (ECW) organized an expert group meeting, to review the progress realized on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, 20 years after its adoption in the Arab region. ECW Director Samira Atallah chaired the meeting, alongside Head of the Arab League's Department for Women, Family and Childhood Inas Mekawy and UN Women Deputy Regional Director for Arab States Mohammad Naciri. Attendees were representatives of public administrations and national women machineries in Arab countries, together with regional experts. |

Moroccan Chief of Government Receives Executive Secretary |
In the context of her visit to the Kingdom of Morocco, to take part in the Second High Level Meeting on Democratic Transitions, which ESCWA held in Rabat on 5 and 6 February 2013, United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf visited Moroccan Prime Minister Abdelilah Benkirane at the Council of Ministers Headquarters. The meeting was attended by Moroccan Minister of State Abdallah Baha. Discussions tackled the support ESCWA could give to shoulder Moroccan national efforts to further national development. |
