Arab Food Security Conference Issues Range of Recommendations |
Beirut, 7 February 2012 (UN Information Service) – Participants in an international conference on Arab food security today concluded two days of meetings with a call to highlight the need to focus on supporting job-creating growth for the poor in countries with household-level food insecurity, and on encouraging exports to finance food imports and agriculture in countries with macro-level food insecurity. |

Sultanate of Oman Provides Financial Support to UN-ESCWA Development Projects and Technical Cooperation Activities |
The Sultanate of Oman today provided UN-ESCWA with financial support of USD 50,000 to fund development projects and technical cooperation and support activities for member countries. The Sultanate is considered one of the most prominent supporters of UN-ESCWA in recent years since it has already provided funds that amounted to USD 300,000. |

ESCWA 30th Ministerial Session to take place in Beirut with focus on technology for sustainable development |
Beirut, 31 May 2018 (Communication and Information Unit)--The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) today announced it will hold its 30th Ministerial Session in Beirut, Lebanon on 27 and 28 June with a focus on technology for sustainable development. “We are proud to welcome the Ministerial Session back to Beirut this year, as the last one organized in Lebanon was in 2012,” said Mohamed Ali Alhakim, the Executive Secretary of ESCWA. |

Creativity, Innovation and Competitiveness on the Agenda of ESCWA |
The Amman based ESCWA Technology Centre participated in organizing the “Arab Conference for Creativity, Innovation and Competitiveness,” held by the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO) and the Central Metallurgical Research and Development Institute (CMRDI) on 24 and 25 May 2016 in Cairo. ESCWA Technology Centre’s National Officer Nael AlMulki delivered a keynote address in the opening of the Conference and participated as rapporteur in the third working session. |

UNCTAD-UNESCWA Workshop to Develop Country Decision-Makers |
A second joint regional training course designed by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) and UNESCWA, on “Key Issues on the International Economic Agenda” is due to begin at the UN House, Beirut, on 26 June 2006. The course will be jointly opened by UNESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary Atif Kubursi and UNCTAD Deputy Secretary-General Dirk Bruinsma at 9:00am. |
