The door for applying to the digital Arabic content (DAC) competition is now open until 31 March 2014. Within the framework of cooperation between ESCWA and the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt represented by the Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre (TIEC), the digital Arabic content (DAC) competition in Egypt was launched on 2 March 2014, as part of a workshop to raise awareness on the importance of the DAC industry.

Estimates reveal that more than 55% of Lebanon’s population is now trapped in poverty and struggling for bare necessities, warns a new policy brief by ESCWA.

A group of students from the University of Aarhus (Denmark) visited ESCWA today and learned about its objectives and programmes. The students were briefed on the role of ESCWA, as one of the United Nations Regional Commissions, and the opportunities and challenges facing the region.

Under the auspices of Kuwaiti Minister of Transport Maasouma Saleh Al Mubarak, UN-ESCWA, in cooperation with the Ministry of Transport, is holding a national workshop on International Goods Transport Facilitation in Kuwait that will take place at the General Directorate of Customs, Shuweikh, on 29 November 2006. This meeting is part of the United Nations Development Account project “Capacity-Building through Cooperation in Developing Inter-Regional Land and Land-Cum-Sea Transport Linkages”.
