Beirut-Cairo, 8 November 2019 (ESCWA)--Today, ESCWA concluded several meetings in Cairo on climate change, in preparation for the 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP25) in Madrid next month.
 

In a seminar held at the UN House, Beirut, ESCWA launched the Information Economy Report 2013 on 2 December, in the presence of experts in the fields of economic issues and information and communication technologies.

Chief of the ICT Applications Section at the Information and Communications Division in ESCWA (ICTD) Nibal Idlebi briefly presented the report, while Associate Economic Affairs Officer at UNCTAD Marie Sicat detailed its global findings and while ICTD Information Technology Officer Rami Zaatari delivered a presentation on the regional aspects of the report.

 
During a visit to the Lebanese Atomic Energy Commission (LAEC), the Executive Secretary of ESCWA stressed the importance of their work to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, especially those related to the environment.
 
“We can benefit from the expertise of LAEC in the implementation of common mechanisms and programs related to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and on the issues of climate change and the impact on nature and people,” said ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim, speaking during a visit on 27 December.
 

Beirut, 20 September 2011 (UN Information Services) — Against the backdrop of development challenges facing Arab countries and the popular movements sweeping the region, ESCWA today opened an expert group meeting at the UN House in Beirut to discuss recent transformations in the Arab world and develop the Commission’s strategic framework for the 2014-2015 biennium.
