11 December 2014	Combating Violence against Women and Girls	ESCWA held an expert group meeting on 30-31 May at the UN-House, Beirut, to discuss and assess the key findings of the study "Policies to Empower Women in the Arab Region: Combating Violence against Women and Girls". ESCWA and the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN WOMEN) had prepared a study with support from the Norwegian Embassy in Lebanon.
20 March 2018	ESCWA participates in 2018 World Summit on Information Society (WSIS) Forum	Beirut, 19 March 2018 (Communication and Information Unit) – The world’s largest annual gathering of the “Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Development” community is convening this week (19-23 March) at UN Headquarters in Switzerland, with a delegation of ESCWA experts in attendance to highlight links between digital technologies and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the Arab region.
26 February 2016	Short Term Statistics in Western Asia	ESCWA organized an Expert Group Meeting on Short Term Statistics from 16 to18 February, 2016 in Amman, Jordan. The meeting was held in the context of the project “Strengthening the Statistical Capacity of ESCWA Member Countries in Producing and Disseminating Short-term Economic Indicators for Sustainable Growth,” in coordination with the United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD).

11 December 2014	Cairo to Host UNESCWA-GTZ Meeting on Regional Water Utilities	Under the auspices of Egyptian Minister of Housing, Utilities and Urban Planning Ahmed El Magraby, and in the presence of Mr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid, Minister of Water resources and Irrigation, UNESCWA and the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ) are holding a Consultative Meeting entitled “Proposal for Formation of an Arab Water Utilities Network” from 4 to 6 September 2006 at the Conrad Hotel, Cairo, Egypt.
11 August 2015	ESCWA Launches Study from LAU on Access to Justice for Women and Girls in Arab Region	ESCWA launches on Tuesday 26 May 2015 its flagship study on "Access to Justice for Women and Girls in the Arab Region: From Ratification to Implementation of International Instruments," in a ceremony that begins at 11 AM at the Business Building of the Lebanese American University (LAU), Room 903. The event is held in partnership with the Institute for Women's Studies in the Arab World (IWSAW).
21 December 2017	Egypt Hosts Workshop on Fostering Innovation in the Public Sectors of Arab Countries	Beirut-Cairo, 4 December 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) – ESCWA has recently organized a workshop on “Fostering Innovation in the Public Sectors of Arab Countries” in Cairo under the patronage of Hala Helmy El Said, Egypt’s Minister of Planning, Monitoring and Administrative Reform.
11 December 2014	Urbanization and the Changing Character of the Arab City	UNESCWA has published a study titled “Urbanization and the Changing Character of the Arab City” that sheds light on the role of development in shaping the character of the Arab city, with the aim of contributing to the discourse on urban development in the Arab region.
11 December 2014	ESCWA Deliberates Millennium Development Goals in the Arab region	ESCWA held an Expert Group Meeting on 19 and 20 July, to discuss the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in the Arab region, as part of a report to be published on the subject later this year. The meeting discussed regional priorities, different forms of partnerships for development through trade and finance integration, cooperation on water management, labour migration and food security issues.
4 January 2017	Developing the Gender Mainstreaming in Public Institutions Project	During the ESCWA 29th Session hosted by Qatar on 13-15 December 2016, ESCWA Centre for Women (ECW) delivered a presentation on the Gender Mainstreaming in Public Institutions project which aims to design the first unified Arab framework to measure progress towards achieving gender equality and women empowerment in public institutions, based on the success of ESCWA in implementing the United Nations System-wide Action Plan on Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-SWAP).
