الإسكوا في منتدى بيروت الخامس للطاقة |
ضمن إطار فعاليّات منتدى بيروت الخامس للطاقة، نظّمت الإسكوا جلسة بعنوان "دور الطاقة المتجددة في التنمية الاقتصادية والاجتماعية في المنطقة العربية" في 17 أيلول/سبتمبر 2014، أدارها منصف بن عبد الله، كبير خبراء في الطاقة ووزير الصناعة والطاقة سابقاً في تونس. تمحورت النقاشات حول تأثير الانتقال إلى الطاقة المستدامة على بطالة الشباب وخلق فرص العمل؛ وتأثير نشر استخدام الطاقة المتجددة وكفاءة الطاقة؛ ودور المؤسسات الصغيرة والمتوسطة في هذا الشأن. |

دراسات المياه الاجتماعية في الشرق الأوسط وشمالي إفريقيا |
شارك المستشار الإقليمي للإسكوا حول البيئة والمياه رالف كلينغبايل بمؤتمر "دراسات المياه الاجتماعية في منطقة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا" يومي 27 و28 أيلول/سبتمبر 2014 في الجامعة الألمانية الأردنية في مادبا، الأردن. وقد ساهمت الإسكوا في المؤتمر من خلال إحدى جلسات النقاش وأحد العروض، ومن خلال دعمها لعلماء مشاركين من مصر والمغرب وتونس. |

Lebanese Officials to Launch UNESCWA E-Caravan Project |
Lebanese Minister of Communication Marwan Hamadeh, Lebanese Minister of Social Affairs Nayla Mouawad and UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy will launch the E-Caravan project for South Lebanon during a press conference at 11:00am Wednesday, 18 January 2006, at the UN House, Beirut. The project is implemented in cooperation with “Fondation Saradar”. |

Launching of E-Caravan Project for South Lebanon |
UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy considered the mobile computer school project a join effort between the United Nations agencies in Lebanon, foreign and Arab embassies, civil society organizations, and the banking and private sectors. Tallawy was speaking at a press conference held today to launch the E-Caravan project for South Lebanon implemented by UNESCWA in cooperation with “Fondation Saradar”. The launching took place under the auspices of Lebanese Minister of Communication Marwan Hamadeh represented by the ministry’s Director-General Naji Andraos. |

In a significant step coming at a critical time in the history of the region, Arab officials and highly skilled experts and intellectuals will gather at UNESCWA to participate in a meeting on the “Role of UNESCWA in Servicing its Member States, the Next Five Years.” The meeting, which will bring together prominent officials and academics, will continue until Wednesday, 25 January 2006. |

Executive Secretary Says Saudi Arabia to Head Next Ministerial Session |

Towards an Integrated Knowledge Society in the Arab Countries |
UNESCWA has published a study titled “Towards an Integrated Knowledge Society in the Arab Countries: Strategies for Implementation Modalities.” It aims at providing a framework and guidelines for the design, development and implementation of national strategies towards the realization and development of a knowledge society and a knowledge-based economy in the Arab countries. It analyses implementation concerns related to socio-economic initiatives, and builds an agenda for implementation modalities related to the development and sustenance of knowledge economies. |
