Executive Secretary Visits Oman, Participates in G77 Water Forum |
UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary Bader Omar AlDafa considered today that the Regional Commission region sufferers from a variety of pressures that endanger the sustainability of its water resources. UN-ESCWA has therefore set the management of water resources at the top of its work priority and works to implement several projects to strengthen the good and sustainable management of these resources. AlDafa made these remarks in the first session of the Ministerial Forum on Water that the G77 and China are holding in Oman on 23-25 February. |

ESCWA 27th Session to Discuss Rio+20 Regional Preparations |
Beirut, 2 May 2012 (ESCWA Communications and Information Unit)- The 27th Ministerial Session of ESCWA will take place two months ahead of Rio+20, the United Nations Conference on Sustainable Development, to be held in June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro. The Conference will mark the 20th anniversary of the World Earth Summit that took place in Rio de Janeiro and the 10th anniversary of the United Nations Summit on Sustainable Development that took place in Johannesburg, South Africa. |
