Under the Patronage of Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society of Jordan (RSS) and  President of the Board of Governors of the UN-ESCWA Technology Center (ETC), the Science Diplomacy Program at RSS, UN-ETC in partnership with International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA) and US Civilian Research and Development Foundation (CRDF Global), held on 13-14 December 2016, the 1st Arab Leadership Dialogue on Science Advice to Governments, in Dead Sea, Jordan.
 

 ESCWA co-organized a session on Innovation Policies for Socio-Economic Sustainable Development as part of the Fourth Session of the Arab Forum for Scientific Research and Sustainable Development, held under the auspices of Egyptian Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ashraf al Shihi, on 16-18 December 2016.
 
The ESCWA session brought to light the importance of innovation policies for economic growth and for the achievement of inclusive sustainable development.

Beirut, 23 January 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) – Under the framework of its work on sustainable energy, ESCWA is organising an expert group meeting (EGM) on “Tracking Progress toward the Implementation of Energy Related Sustainable Development Goals in the Arab Region” on 24-25 January 2017, at the UN House, Riad El-Solh Square, Beirut, Lebanon.
 

The second phase of the “National Agenda for the Future of Syria (NAFS)” programme at ESCWA will be released in a plenary meeting tomorrow Friday 27 January 2017 at the United Nations House in Beirut.
 
The meeting, which opens at 10:00 AM, will present the recommendations and final document of the Agenda’s Phase I as the “Strategic Policy Alternatives Framework-Post Conflict Syria,” and the vision of its Phase II.
