Promoting Green Energy Technology Market in Rural Areas is the title of a workshop ESCWA is organizing on 24-25 May 2016, at the UN-House in Beirut. The Workshop, which will open at 9:30 tomorrow Tuesday 24 May 2016, aims at building the capacity of the public sector in Arab countries in order to enhance the sustainability of renewable energy penetration in rural areas by fostering sustainable renewable energy markets. The Workshop opens with remarks by Radia Sedaoui, Chief of the ESCWA Energy Section. |

Jordanian Minister of Information and Communication Technology to Open an UN-ESCWA Workshop Next Monday |
Jordanian Minister of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Basem Rousan will open the UN-ESCWA Workshop on “Establishing Public Private Partnerships (PPP) for Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Initiatives” hosted by the Ministry of ICT (MoICT) in Amman from 26 February to 1 March 2007. The workshop, which will open at exactly 09:30 am next Monday, will be organized in cooperation with the Jordanian MoICT, the Global Knowledge Partnership (GKP), and the Institute of Public Private Partnership (IP3). |

UN-ESCWA, in partnership with the Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources of Germany (BGR) and in collaboration with the Ministry of Water Resources in Iraq, is organizing an Advanced-Level Seminar on “Negotiations and Dispute Resolution Over International Shared Water Resources in Iraq.” The meeting will take place on 29-31 July 2008 at the UN-House in Beirut, Lebanon. The objectives of this meeting are to encourage a comprehensive vision and strategy for international negotiations on shared water resources. |

Le rapport passe en revue les réalisations de la commission durant l’année 2012 qui était pourtant pleine de défis socio-économiques dans la région arabe. |

UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary on Official Visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain |
UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary, Bader Omar AlDafa, today undertook an official visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain, where he met with a number of senior officials, on top of whom was Crown Prince and General Commander of Bahrain’s Defense Force Sheikh Salman Bin Hamad Bin Issa Al Khalifa. Talks focused on the many facets of cooperation with UN-ESCWA, as well as advisory and technical services on which UN-ESCWA and the Government of Bahrain collaborated in the past year. |
