Executive Secretary Meets Lebanese Minister of State for Planning and Deputy Transport Minister of Yemen |
Beirut, 24 August 2017 (Communication and Information Unit) -- ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim today visited Lebanese Minister of State for Planning, Michel Pharaon, at the top of a delegation comprising his Special Assistant Mohanad Al-Musawi, Chief of Economic Development and Poverty Section Khaled Abu-Ismail and Chief of Economic Governance and Planning Ahmed Kamaly. During the meeting, Pharaon stressed the importance of the presence of ESCWA in Beirut and its role at the service of the governments of the region. |

Delegation to Visit the South Thursday |
UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy and a number of UN agency representatives will be visiting the South of Lebanon on Thursday 12 October 2006. The delegation will also include representatives from donor organizations such as the Union of Arab Banks as well as a number of UNESCWA senior staff and experts. |

“Violent extremism walks in when shared society withdraws,” said former Prime Minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina and member of “Club de Madrid” Zlatko Lagumdzija, who paid a visit to the UN House in Beirut on 29 May 2017, and met with Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim. The meeting was attended by ESCWA Deputy Executive Khawla Mattar and Director of ESCWA Emerging and Conflict-related Issues Division Tarek Alami as well as “Club de Madrid” Senior Program Officer Maram Anbar. |

This forum is organized in partnership with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and hosted by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in Egypt. |
