UNESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy today expressed her appreciation for the firm support of the United Arab Emirates to UNESCWA and its commitment to the continuation of the regional commission’s programmes and activities. Migiro Opens Regional Coordination |
United Nations Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro will open the 12th Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) Meeting at 10:00 am on Saturday 13 September at the UN House-Beirut. The Director General of AIDMO Visits UN-ESCWA |
UN-ESCWA Executive Secretary Mervat Tallawy met yesterday with Director General of the Arab Industrial Development and Mining Organization (AIDMO) Mohamed Bin Youssef. The aim of his visit was to discuss the strengthening of cooperation between AIDMO and UN-ESCWA as well as the possibility of signing a new comprehensive and qualitative agreement on the close cooperation between the two organizations that began in the 70s in the area of industrial development and mining. |

ESCWA National Conference on Decentralization and Local Governance in Iraq |
ESCWA convened a national conference on decentralization and local governance in Iraq entitled "Instigating an Evidence-based and Home-Grown National Strategy for the Promotion of Decentralization and Local Governance in Iraq". The conference, which was held in Erbil on 14-15 June 2011, gathered more than 120 participants from federal, regional and local governments, alongside representatives of Iraqi parliament, civil society and private sector. |

UN Retreats in Turin Discuss Priority Issues |
UN-ESCWA Executive-Secretary Badr Omar AlDafa took part end of August in two UN retreats in Torino, Italy. The first retreat held between 29 and 30 August was the Second Senior Managers Retreat, while the second was the UN Regional Commissions Retreat between 31 August and 2 September. |

Beirut-Khartoum, 28 February 2020--From 10 to 13 February, ESCWA held three workshops on integrated education in the Sudan, funded by the Italian Agency for Development and Cooperation (AICS).
