26 February 2019	Executive Secretary reiterates ESCWA support to Lebanon	Beirut, 26 February 2019 (ESCWA)--United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Rola Dashti today called on Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri and reiterated the support of the Regional Commission to Lebanon in the social and economic dossiers. Dashti asserted that ESCWA will continue to provide close assistance in services and expertise at the socio-economic level.
11 December 2014	ESCWA Hosts Lecture on Public Health in the Arab World	On 5 June 2012, ESCWA hosted a lecture on the book “Public Health in the Arab World.” Invited by ESCWA Staff Council, Mr. Samer Jabbour, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Health Sciences at the American University of Beirut, delivered a lecture on the book, which he edited together with Ms. Rita Giacaman, Professor at the Institute of Community and Public Health at Birzeit University and Mr. Iman Nuwayhid, Dean, Faculty of Health Sciences at the American University of Beirut, and Mr. Marwan Khawaja, ESCWA Chief of Social Statistics Section.

11 December 2014	UN Deputy Secretary-General Starts Lebanon Visit	Beirut, 23 November 2011 (UN Information Service) — UN Deputy Secretary-General Asha-Rose Migiro arrived in Beirut this morning on a four-day visit, during which she will head the 16th meeting of the UN’s Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) and meet leaders of the country as well as chiefs and staff of UN agencies in Lebanon. During her stay, Migiro is set to visit Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, Speaker of the Parliament Nabih Berri and Prime Minister Najib Mikati.

11 December 2014	ESCWA Concludes Transport Committee with Calls to Harmonize Legislation	ESCWA Transport Committee adopted today the proposal for the formation of a working group on the harmonization of institutional frameworks and legislation in the transport sector in the ESCWA region. Transport officials of ESCWA’s 14 member countries adopted this proposal at the 11th Session of the ESCWA Transport Committee, which was held on 22-24 March under the auspices of Lebanese Minister of Transportation, Ghazi Aridi.
