26 February 2015	Survey of Economic and Social Developments in the Arab Region 2013-2014	How severely has the political, security and humanitarian crisis escalated in Iraq, Libya, Palestine and Syria? To what extent does it negatively affect neighboring countries? Are the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) maintaining a stable economic recovery? What are the financing gaps in the region? And what role does the regional economic integration occupy in the Arab region? All these questions will be answered in the Survey conducted by ESCWA during a press conference held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday 19 November 2014, at the UN-House, Riad El Solh Square, Beirut.

11 December 2014	Doha School Hosts Water Day in Cooperation with the UN Information Centre	Tuesday 24 May 2011 (UN Information Centre) – In cooperation with the UN Information Centre (UNIC) in Beirut, Doha School is organizing a “Water Day” this coming Friday 27 may 2011, from 9:30 AM until 5:00 PM at the school premises. The Day opens at 9:30 AM with statements by UNIC Director Bahaa Elkoussy, and Doha School Principal Nabil Al Jurdi. Afterwards, a short film will be projected on water risks in Lebanon. The opening ceremony wraps up with the declaration of student recommendations on water issues.
11 December 2014	ESCWA Launches Publication on Promises of Arab Spring	In the presence of civic activists, civil society organizations, academics, social researchers, local leaders and politicians from Lebanon, Jordan, Bahrain, Tunisia, Syria, Libya, Morocco, Egypt, and Yemen, ESCWA launched today its new publication entitled “Promises of Spring: Citizenship and Civic Engagement in Democratic Transitions”. The launching ceremony opened with a welcome note by Director of the ESCWA Social Development Division Frederico Neto, followed by a presentation on the said study by Chief of the Participatory Development Section Maha Yehya.
29 September 2019	Transitioning to renewable energy and sustainable prosperity in Lebanon	Beirut, 23 September 2019 (ESCWA)--Experts today gathered at a regional workshop organized by ESCWA on means to build equitable energy supply systems in Lebanon and the role of institutions and organizations in this transition.
20 August 2015	Energy Consumption in the Transport Sector	National Statistical Offices and ministries of transport, and energy delegates from the three countries beneficiaries from the project on “Survey of Energy Consumption in the Transport Sector”, namely Egypt, Jordan and Palestine, gathered at ESCWA in Beirut on 23 and 24 July 2015, to launch the results of the Survey (see flyer).
11 December 2014	Secretary-General Appoints Bader Al Dafa of Qatar as Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA	New York-Beirut,30 July (United Nations Information Centre)--United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki-moon announced today the appointment of Mr. Bader Al-Dafa of Qatar as Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). Mr. Al-Dafa has recently served as Ambassador of Qatar to the United States and Permanent Observer to the Organization of American States (OAS. In this capacity,he played a special role in promoting access to education and the arts in the Arab-American community and among other minority populations in the United States.

11 December 2014	Executive Secretary in Symposium on Development Cooperation in Egypt	The Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (UN-ESCWA), Mr. Bader Omar Al Dafa, heads today to participate in the high level symposium on “Trends in Development Cooperation: South-South and Triangular Cooperation and Aid Effectiveness“organized by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) on 19-20 January 2008 in Cairo.
