Partnership Building Forum for Arab Domains on the Internet |
ESCWA and the League of Arab States (LAS) are organizing a Partnership Building Forum for the Implementation of the Arab Top Level Domains (TLD) “.arab” & “.عرب”, on 5 and 6 July 2011 at the Fairmont Heliopolis and Towers Hotel in Cairo, Egypt. This forum is organized in partnership with the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and hosted by the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) in Egypt. |

Survey of Economic and Social Developments in the Arab Region 2015-2016 |
On 10 November 2016, ESCWA launched its Survey of Economic and Social Developments in the Arab Region 2015-2016, which highlights the colossal direct and indirect economic and social impact of the five-year old conflicts and political transitions in the region. Director of ESCWA Economic Development and Integration Division Mohamed el Moctar Mohamed el Hacene presented the Survey. He said, “The economic and political uncertainty in the region continues to restrain the general prospects for growth, job creation and stability.” |

ESCWA Meets in Abu Dhabi on Traffic Casualty Reduction |
The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), is organizing a workshop in Abu Dhabi for "Setting Regional and National Road Traffic Casualty Reduction Targets in the ESCWA Region" on 16-17 June; The workshop will discuss strengthening national capacities of low and middle income countries to reduce road traffic casualties and the establishment of national committees for road safety. The meeting will also review the current statistics on road safety and developments in the field of road safety management in member countries. |
