11 December 2014	Helsinki University Students Visit ESCWA, Get Briefed on its Objectives and Programmes	Beirut, 16 May, 2012 (ESCWA Communications and Information Unit)- A group of Political Studies students from the University of Helsinki visited ESCWA today and explored its objectives and programmes. The students were briefed by Ms. Ahed Sboul, Chief, Conference Services Section on the opportunities provided by the Regional Commission and the challenges it is facing, especially following the drastic change that has occurred in the region since January 2011.
26 February 2015	Survey of Economic and Social Developments in the Arab Region 2013-2014	How severely has the political, security and humanitarian crisis escalated in Iraq, Libya, Palestine and Syria? To what extent does it negatively affect neighboring countries? Are the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) maintaining a stable economic recovery? What are the financing gaps in the region? And what role does the regional economic integration occupy in the Arab region? All these questions will be answered in the Survey conducted by ESCWA during a press conference held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday 19 November 2014, at the UN-House, Riad El Solh Square, Beirut.
12 November 2014	Social Water Studies in MENA Region	ESCWA Regional Advisor on Environment and Water Ralf Klingbeil participated in the conference on “Social Water Studies in the MENA Region” on September 27th and 28th 2014 at the German Jordanian University (GJU) in Madaba, Jordan. ESCWA contributed to the conference through a panel discussion, a presentation, as well as supporting participating scientists from Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia.
4 October 2019	ESCWA at World Water Week 2019	Beirut-Stockholm, 13 September 2019 (ESCWA)--Between 25 and 29 August, ESCWA, represented by the Director of the Sustainable Development Policies Division, Ms. Roula Majdalani, participated in the World Water Week 2019 in Stockholm, which was organized by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI) on the theme “Water for society – including all.”
11 December 2014	ESCWA-Berytech Digital Arabic Content Competition in Lebanon Still Ongoing	ESCWA and Berytech Technology and Health launched on 19 September the Digital Arabic Content (DAC) Competition in Lebanon for 2013, which is open for participation until 31 October 2013. A workshop was held in Beirut to launch the competition, and raise awareness on the importance of DAC for the Arab region and the opportunities it offers. It was attended by experts from the academic domain, the private sector, interested investors, and aspiring entrepreneurs.
11 December 2014	ESCWA Executive Secretary: Global Economic Crisis Creates Many Hurdles for MDGs	The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) Summit was held in New York from 20 to 22 September, and it was considered a landmark event since the MDGs seek to halve the number of poor people and to achieve significant targets in the areas of education, health, gender equality, sustainable development and the environment by 2015.
11 December 2014	Students of Aarhus University Visit ESCWA, Get Briefed on Economic Challenges in the Region	A group of students from the University of Aarhus (Denmark) visited ESCWA today and learned about its objectives and programmes. The students were briefed on the role of ESCWA, as one of the United Nations Regional Commissions, and the opportunities and challenges facing the region.

11 December 2014	UNESCWA to back Egypt in National Population and Housing Census	In support of the United Nations 2010 World Program of Population and Housing Censuses, adopted by the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in its resolution 2005/13, and under the patronage of the Prime Minister of Egypt, Mr. Ahmed Nazif, the United Nations Economic and Social commission for Western Asia (UNESCWA), is holding a national seminar on “Population, Housing and Establishment Censuses in the Context of Development" on 30-31 July 2006 at Conrad-Hotel, Cairo.
