17 May 2017	ESCWA Executive Secretary Arrives in Beirut	United Nations Under-Secretary-General and ESCWA Executive Secretary Mohamed Ali Alhakim arrived this evening in Beirut to assume his responsibilities. He was received at the Rafik Hariri International Airport by Iraqi Ambassador to Lebanon Ali Al Ameri, ESCWA Deputy Executive Secretary Khawla Mattar, ESCWA Secretary Karim Khalil and a number of officials in the Commission. Before his appointment, Alhakim was the Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Iraq to the United Nations in New York since May 2013.
25 July 2019	ESCWA discusses competencies of senior servants from the Agenda 2030 perspective	Beirut-Cairo, 23 July 2019 (ESCWA)--On 15-17 July, ESCWA held in Cairo, Egypt, a regional workshop to discuss and approve “The Common Arab Regional Job Competencies Framework for Senior Public Servants from the Perspective of the Agenda 2030 and Public Policy”. Participants included senior civil servants from public institutions in 10 Arab countries mandated to lead administrative reform and support their countries national development.
11 December 2014	Dubai Hosts Two ESCWA Meetings Next Week	The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing a workshop and an expert group meeting in Dubai, on issues of trade facilitation and transport, from 9 to 11 April 2013. In cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank, ESCWA is holding a “Regional training Workshop on Trade Facilitation, Infrastructure and Trade Costs Policies in ESCWA region” at the Movenpick Deira Hotel, Dubai.

19 October 2020	Women, Peace and Security Agenda in Kuwait	Beirut-Kuwait, 19 October 2020 (ESCWA)--In support of Kuwait's efforts to engage with United Nations security council resolution 1325 (2000) on women, peace and security (WPS), ESCWA organized a webinar series on the WPS Agenda, on 28 and 29 September, and on 13 October, in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Kuwait.

11 December 2014	Lebanese Prime Minister opens the 14th Regional Coordination Mechanism	Beirut, 09 November 2010 (UN Information Service) — Lebanese Prime Minister Saad El Hariri will open the 14th Regional Coordination Mechanism (RCM) meeting for all UN agencies operating in the Arab region. The meeting, organized by ESCWA, will be held on Thursday 11 November at 9:00 am at the UN House in Beirut. In addition to El Hariri, the UN Deputy Secretary General Asha-Rose Migiro and ESCWA Executive Secretary Rima Khalaf will deliver statements at the opening session.
10 March 2017	Workshop on Effective National Technology Transfer System in Lebanon	Under the auspices of Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri, ESCWA and the Lebanese National Council for Scientific Research (NCRS), in cooperation with the Ministry of State for Administrative Reform, organized a workshop on National Technology Transfer System, on 23 February 2017, at Grand Serail, Beirut. The workshop is part of the regional ESCWA project on setting up national technology transfer systems in five Arab countries members of ESCWA, namely Egypt, Lebanon, Morocco, Oman and Tunisia.

11 December 2014	ESCWA and ALI Launch Green Production Help Desk	In a press conference that gathered the board members of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists (ALI), ESCWA officials, and representatives from media institutions, ESCWA and ALI launched on 27 June 2013 the “Green Production Help Desk (GHD)” project, which provides information and technical advisory services for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) to comply with the objectives and principles of sustainable development.
