ESCWA and the German Federal Institute for Geosciences and Natural Resources (BGR) launched the Inventory of Shared Water Resources in Western Asia on 3 september at the World Water Week in Stockholm. This publication is the first effort led by the United Nations to comprehensively identify and assess the state of transboundary surface and groundwater resources in the Middle East, and was prepared in close consultation with ESCWA member countries as well as regional and international experts.

Participants in the UNESCWA seminar on “Population, Housing and Establishment Censuses in the Context of Development" held in Cairo on 30-31 July 2006 under the patronage of Egyptian Prime Minister considered that the implementation of the census is Egypt was an important opportunity to be used in indicating the effects of population issues over development and the future needs in Egypt not only at the national and provincial levels.

Beirut, 26 February 2019 (ESCWA)--United Nations Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) Rola Dashti today called on Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri and reiterated the support of the Regional Commission to Lebanon in the social and economic dossiers.
 
Dashti asserted that ESCWA will continue to provide close assistance in services and expertise at the socio-economic level.
 

National Statistical Offices and ministries of transport, and energy delegates from the three countries beneficiaries from the project on “Survey of Energy Consumption in the Transport Sector”, namely Egypt, Jordan and Palestine, gathered at ESCWA in Beirut on 23 and 24 July 2015, to launch the results of the Survey (see flyer).
