14 February 2019	Arab Forum for Sustainable Development, 2019	The Arab Forum for Sustainable Development (AFSD) is an annual high-level regional platform, where multiple stakeholders discuss coordination pathways for the implementation, follow-up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in the Arab region. This year, AFSD-2019 is held under the theme of “Empowering People and Ensuring Inclusiveness and Equality in the Arab Region”.
8 January 2020	Visual arts competition on sustainable development in the Arab region	The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing a visual arts competition on sustainable development in the Arab region, to encourage artists and photographers from the region to portray the reality of sustainable development in Arab countries through photographs, videos or infographics/animation. ESCWA is organizing the competition in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre in Beirut.

1 April 2021	First ESCWA-LAS Joint Workshop on Developing the Arab Digital Agenda / ICT Strategy A standalone Side-Event in parallel to the 32nd Arab Working Group on the Arab ICT strategy	The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) and the League of Arab States (LAS) are organizing the First Joint Workshop on Developing the Arab Digital Agenda / ICT Strategy (ADAICTS) as a standalone Side-Event in parallel to the 32^nd Arab Working Group on the Arab ICT strategy. The event is being held within the framework of the strategic cooperation between the two organizations and in the context of the related track of Advancing Digital Cooperation and Development Arab States Action Programme, launched by ESCWA in 2020. The workshop aims to kick-off the process for shaping and developing the ADAICTS as a joint regional public good and to agree on the way forward with prospective partners. The participatory process will lead to the elaboration of the Unified Arab Digital Agenda for the ten coming years, expected to be finalized by the end of 2021, endorsed by the Arab ICT ministers and launched soon after.
1 February 2021	Arab Regional Preparations for the 2023 Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Water Action Decade	The aim of this consultative meeting is to draft a collaborative road map for Arab regional preparations leading to the United Nations Conference for the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Water Action Decade in March 2023. Discussion will include contributions to a midterm regional review report, preparations for the regional preparatory meeting, and the identification of activities that can explicitly support the Water Action Decade in the region.
16 March 2016	E-forum on Democracy and Participation	Political transitions as a result of popular uprisings in different Arab countries have brought to the fore a number of short term challenges that will have a decisive impact on the long term prospects of these countries and the region.
14 December 2020	Regional Expert Meeting on National Digital Development Reviews 2.0 – Enhanced Methodology and Updated Guiding Template	Within the framework of the project on advancing digital cooperation and development Arab States Action Programme, ESCWA is organizing the Second Regional Expert Meeting on “National Digital Development Reviews 2.0 – Enhanced Methodology and Updated Guiding Template”, via internet. The meeting will gather the Arab countries that participated in the first round of the National Digital Development Reviews (NDDRs) for 2019 and countries wishing to participate in the 2021 round. The Regional Expert Meeting aims to introduce the enhanced toolkit to be used for developing the 2021 National Digital Development Reviews (NDDRs) and the next Arab Digital Development Report (ADDR) edition to help Arab policy makers devise tailored evidence-based policies and strategies for advancing digital development and digital cooperation at the national and regional levels. Innovative suggested tools will also be discussed for potential piloting by interested countries and organizations. Furthermore, the meeting will pave the way towards the collaboration in the elaboration of the Arab ICT Strategy/Arab Digital Agenda (ADAICTS) which initiation and details will be further discussed with prospective partners in a dedicated meeting planned to take place on 21 December 2020, whereby ESCWA and LAS will join efforts with Arab countries and concerned UN and Arab organizations to shape the ADAICTS and agree on the way forward for advancing digital development and digital cooperation in the region for the next ten years.
