In collaboration with Besme International Group for Humanitarian Assistance, a not- for- profit organization, the ESCWA centre for Women is conducting a capacity building workshop on "Enhancing Yemeni women’s capacity and promoting political Participation and Women, Peace and Security Agenda". This workshop is a capacity development on women's participation in Yemen's peace process. The Centre for Women will lead the substantive discussions. |

International Women’s Day: Be bold for change |

This event is organized in recognition of the role played by Women in the Arab region and their efforts towards realizing wellbeing and prosperity for her community and nation. The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) convened at the UN House, Beirut, during 17-19 May 2011, the twelfth session of the Committee on Transport that represents a continuation of efforts made by ESCWA to complete the development of the Integrated Transport System in the Arab Mashreq (ITSAM) and follow up the implementation of its components pursuant to ESCWA resolution 279 (XXIV) of 11 May 2006, with a view to facilitating trade and transport between the countries of the region and achieving regional integration. |

The sectoral statistics team participated at the UN-ECE Ad Hoc Group Meeting on Supply of Fossil Fuels, Geneva, 10-11 November 2004, organized by the Sustainable Energy Section of the Industrial Restructuring, Energy and Enterprise Development Division at ECE. The participation was a follow-up on the recommendations on UNFC Classification of energy reserves/resources that was held in Beirut in collaboration with OPEC, UNSD and ECE in Beirut, 1 June 2004. |

Training Workshop on Programme Cycle Management |
ESCWA is organizing a five-day intensive training workshop on Programme Cycle Management and Project Formulation at the UN house in Beirut, from 21 to 25 October 2013. The workshop aims at training 25 senior staff from the Ministry of Social Affairs in Lebanon on how to design and prepare project proposals and learn the best practices of programme cycle management tools and techniques. Ultimately, the workshop aims at enhancing the Ministry's capacity to undertake social development projects and contribute to institutionalize project management within the Ministry. |
