Following the last EGM held on 14-15 September 2019 in Tunis; ESCWA’s Libya SED integrated, as agreed, the set of broad arrays of priorities which were identified by the authors of the papers and discussants into thematic areas which encapsulated the harmonization of these priorities in the agenda below. |

Inter-regional Seminar on "Participatory Development and Conflict Resolution: Path of Democratic Transition and Social Justice" |
Since the beginning of 2011, countries of the region have been experiencing events that are necessitating the revision of their policy options, and are increasing their interests in the process of democratic transition as a way to promote participatory development and establish peace and security. The recent uprisings witnessed in countries of the region, are pressing for reform of their systems of governance and the adoption of democratic standards, which only confirms that such a choice is possible. |

The conference will take place at the Umayyad Congress Palace in Damascus, between 16 and 18 June 2009.

Presentation of final results of the comprehensive baseline mapping study for the energy situation of the building sector in Tunisia |
The objective of this National Workshop is to present to the key actors in the building sector in Tunisia – in particular, the project’s National Task Force – the final results of the comprehensive baseline mapping study for the energy situation of the building sector in Tunisia. Members of the Project’s National Task Force, which include representatives of relevant public & private stakeholders for the considered branches of activities and other key actors in the building sector, will be solicited to help in validating these final results. The outputs of this mapping exercise shall constitute the basis for the remaining project activities and will help in defining the main axis and players for conducting the energy efficiency actions in the building sector in Tunisia. |

Two years after the eruption of the Arab uprisings, protestors continue to fill the streets of major Arab cities. While the initial objective of the Arab uprisings was to pressure their long time rulers to step down, Arab citizens also demanded their rights to dignity, social justice and to participate in the making of their futures. However, the means through which to achieve those demands remains unclear. |

Applying IWRM Principles in Managing Shared Water Resources: Towards a Regional Vision |
The international community has been seeking to establish legal frameworks for improving the management of shared water resources. For instance, the Convention on the Law of the Non-Navigational Uses of International Watercourses, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in May 1997 (but not yet in force), and the draft articles of the Law of Transboundary Aquifers, which were reviewed by the UNGA in December 2008, propose legal frameworks for managing shared surface and groundwater resources based on international water law principles. |
