ESCWA organized a virtual dialogue on the emerging impact of Covid-19 pandemic on Food Security in the Arab region on April 23, 2020. The dialogue was attended by the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - Regional Office for the Near East, officials responsible for food security issues in relevant ministries in the Arab countries, as well as a group of regional and local experts. |

ESCWA is holding an inter-divisional Expert Group Meeting to Follow-up on the Civil Society Forum held in Cairo in April 2011 on the “Arab Uprisings and Prospects for Renaissance”, in the UN house (MZ floor) on 25 and 26 August 2011. Launched in mid-2006, the United Nations Development Account project entitled "Knowledge Networks through ICT Access Points for Disadvantaged Communities" is currently in its final stages of implementation. Led by ESCWA and co-jointly managed with other United Nations Regional Commissions (RCs) – namely ECA, ECE, ECLAC and ESCAP, its main objective is to empower disadvantaged communities by transforming selected ICT access points/telecentres into networked knowledge hubs. |
