3 November 2020	Understanding Livelihood Solutions Under Protracted Forced Displacement: The Case of Homs’ Refugees Population in Lebanon	Lebanon hosts the largest number of Syrian refugees per capita in the world. In Sep 2020, the total number of registered Syrian refugees in Lebanon accounted to 879,529. The protracted nature of the displacement coupled with a significant funding gap in humanitarian and development aid from one side and the increased socio-economic needs of refugees and host communities from the other side limited the ability of the state to manage the conflict and turn it into an opportunity.

19 December 2016	Task Force on Population and Housing Census for Arab Countries in 2020 Census Round, 2nd Meeting	The UN-ESCWA Statistical Committee at its eleventh session, Amman, 4-5 February 2015 asked ESCWA to and its member countries to revive the Task Force on Population and Housing in the Arab countries. The Committee asked ESCWA to coordinate the Task Force activities in cooperation with international and regional related organizations to assist the Arab countries to implement their population census during the period 2015-2024.

1 June 2019	Enhancing capacity building addressing Water and Energy interlinkages for Sustainable Development in the Arab Region	In the framework of addressing the Water - Energy nexus, the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing in collaboration with UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs (UNDESA) and support from the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Sub-Fund, an Expert Group Meeting on “Enhancing capacity building addressing Water and Energy interlinkages for Sustainable Development in the Arab Region”. The objective of this Meeting is to strengthen the capacity of ESCWA member countries and other relevant stakeholders in terms of enhancing their ability to achieve an integrated and sustainable management of water and energy resources through South-South cooperation, thereby contributing to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It intends to facilitate exchange of lessons, insights and experiences to-date among Member States and all stakeholders and to consider challenges and opportunities for furthering progress towards 2030.
